These are Original Skunk No.1 seeds—only reproduced twice since 1988—preserved and handled with care across generations of respected breeders. Originally developed by Skunkman Sam in the 1970s, this line became one of the first stabilized, true-breeding hybrids in the modern era.
The Lineage: Sacred Seeds and Cultivator’s Choice
Skunk No.1 was released by Sacred Seeds, later through Cultivator’s Choice, and remains one of the most important hybrid creations in cannabis history. It blends a powerful Afghan base with Colombian Gold and Acapulco Gold, producing a line known for its vigorous growth, uniform expression, and bold aromatic presence.
Preservation and Reproduction History
In 1988, Mel Frank received original Skunk No.1 seeds from Skunkman Sam and stored them in a refrigerator until 1996, when he conducted the first controlled reproduction. The resulting seeds were then stored again for 23 years before being reproduced once more in 2019/2020. That 2020 grow-out and selection were done by Todd, who focused on retaining the acrid terpene profiles that defined early Skunk expressions.
The Line: Original Skunk No.1 (IBL)
This line remains remarkably stable and true to type, reflecting its hybrid origins while offering a uniform canopy, predictable structure, and strong garden performance. Aromas range from earthy and musky to sharp and acrid, depending on phenotype expression. These seeds represent a living genetic archive—one of the few Skunk #1 lines available today with a direct, traceable lineage back to the original Sacred Seeds stock.
